(5152) Harry Orchard, Thomas Hogan, Steunenberg Trial, 1918

Western Federation of Miners member Harry Orchard, third from the left, is seen here on his way to prison after being convicted of the assassination of Frank Steunenberg, the former governor of Idaho.

During the trial Orchard, also known as Thomas Hogan, confessed to being a hired assassin who worked on behalf members of the Western Federation of Miners, including William Haywood, Charles Moyer, and George Pettibone. All three men were acquitted or found not guilty when the issue went to trial.
