(9918) Occupational Therapist

During the 1960s, the government created a grant project called the Hospital Improvement Program (HIP) to focus on helping special needs patients. One of the recipients was the Fircrest School in Seattle, Washington. Before participating in HIP at Fircrest in 1964 and 1965 the children pictured here were considered beyond help, and only two of the five could sit by themselves. The HIP program greatly aided these children who are further assisted by an occupational therapist and AFSCME member.
