(9166) Buildings, Union Depot Railroad Station, Transportation, Trains, Detroit, 1971

A view of the Union Depot Train Station on the corner of Third and Fort Street, ten days after the last train left and the station was closed, Detroit, Michigan. The Romanesque Revival structure was built of red sandstone between 1891 and 1893 by James Stewart & Co. and was demolished in January of 1974.

Photographer’s Note: "The tracks that led into the station that looked like a castle. A marvelous building that many old Detroiters will always remember.”
