(12239) SS Wayne Victory

SS Wayne Victory was a World War II cargo ship named in honor of Wayne University. Launched in San Francisco harbor on May 28, 1945, she served the military throughout the remainder of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Scrapped in 1999, artifacts from the ship are on permanent exhibit at Old Main on the Wayne State University campus.
