In the late summer of 1908, the Chicago team, along with teams from Boston, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Washington, and Pittsburgh participated in the first Union Printers International Baseball League tournament, hosted by New York City. During the course of the league's existence, St. Paul, Detroit, Hamilton (Ontario) joined with the original eight cities. Some cities dropped the championship.
