 <title>William Cahn Papers</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The first Connecticut member of the Newspaper Guild and a founding officer of the Connecticut State Industrial Union Council, William Cahn worked as a writer and graphic artist.  His work includes the award-winning labor history campaign sponsored by the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU), and extensive journalistic coverage of the rise of industrial unionism during the Depression. Mr. Cahn’s papers document his interest in labor issues, including the ILGWU advertising campaign, his work as publicity director of the United Electrical, Radio &amp;amp; Machine Workers (UE), and unpublished manuscripts.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>James B. Carey Papers</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;James Carey served as secretary-treasurer of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) and worked for the Office of Production Management in Washington D.C. during World War II.  Mr. Carey also served as president of the International Union of Electrical, Radio &amp;amp; Machine Workers (IUE) and as the labor liaison officer to the United Nations Association.  The papers of Mr. Carey reflect his interest in international labor issues and document his work for the AFL-CIO, the IUE, and the UN.&lt;/p&gt;

The union dispute with Berry Brothers, jurisdiction disputes at Acme Paint Company, chemical workers&#039; unions, and some union reports and minutes are discussed. One of Mr. Day&#039;s correspondents was Homer Ferguson.&lt;/p&gt;
