 <title>Brookwood Labor College Photographs</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Brookwood Labor College in Katonah, New York was founded in 1921 as an experimental college for labor specific classes. It was a residential college different from traditional colleges. It only lasted until 1937 when it fell victim to the depression. Collection documents students, faculty, and other labor leaders affiliated with the school, as well as the buildings and grounds of the Brookwood Labor College. Classes, Brookwood Labor Player performances, and other student activities are also depicted.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The Bonnie Lee Moss Rattner Papers contain clippings, correspondence, articles, address lists, scripts and miscellaneous material pertaining primarily to Rattner&#039;s &quot;To Gleam It Around, To Show My Shine,&quot; a two-act play based on the novel &quot;Their Eyes Were Watching God,&quot; by Zora Neale Hurston. Scripts from other plays by Rattner are included. Personal materials include resumes, awards, articles and writings. Among the subjects covered in the collection are African-American literature, Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes, grant proposals, production rights, Wayne State University, playwriting and productions for the stage.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Blanding Sloan (1886-1975) was a puppeteer, theater designer, playwright, printmaker and director who was involved with the marionette program of the Federal Theatre Project (FTP), one of the cultural programs of the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s. His papers reflect his involvement with the FTP in San Francisco and with the Unemployed Co-operative Distribution Association.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Edward Vaughn Papers</title>
 <link>https://reuther.wayne.edu/node/14081</link>
 <description>&lt;p&gt;Edward Vaughn was a participant in the rise of black consciousness that began to proliferate in the 1960s.  He opened Vaughn’s Bookstore in Detroit in 1965, the second black bookstore in America, and it was well known as disseminator of books and information on African American history.  Vaughn also became involved in Forum 66, Black Star Co-op Inc., was part of the 6th Pan-African Congress, and a number of other organizations promoting African American culture and Detroit community.  Vaughn later became involved in politics at both a city and state level, serving as a Michigan State Representative, Executive Assistant to Mayor Coleman Young, and ran for other office including the Detroit City Council.  After retiring from political office Vaughn moved back to his hometown of Dothan, Alabama and became more heavily involved in the NAACP, including serving as President of the Dothan/Wiregrass Branch.  Vaughn also spends time writing plays and promoting local theatre.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;An exterior view of Wayne University’s Bonstelle Theatre, located at 3424 Woodward at the corner of Erskine, Detroit, Michigan. The building was formerly used as Temple Beth El (1902-1922), the Bonstelle Playhouse (1925-1928), the Detroit Civic Theatre (1928-1931) and the Mayfair Theatre (1933-1951). The original structure was built by Albert Kahn. Howard C. Crane oversaw the redesign of the building from a synagogue into a theatre in 1925. &lt;/p&gt;
