Mr. Roberts served as an International representative for the United Rubber Workers, mainly in Alabama, Ohio, and California. News releases, bulletins, clippings, and correspondence document the unionization of rubber workers in Gadsden, Alabama, and at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Akron, Ohio. The beating Roberts suffered in Gadsden because of union activities is discussed. Other subjects covered are the Los Angeles CIO Council, the National Defense Mediation Board, the National War Labor Board, and the War Production Board. Major correspondents are William Collins, William Green, and Homer Martin.
