The papers of the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Guild [Newspaper Guild Local 82] reflect the growth and activities of newspaper unionism. Much of the collection relates to strike negotiations, beginning in 1947 and ending in 1978, the bulk being between 1971-1974. The collection also contains the 1972 Seattle-Tacoma Newspaper Guild, Local 82 vs. U.S. Bureau of Prisons suit, which was brought on by prisoner unrest and the demand by journalists to seek interviews with prisoners.
