Born in Dowagiac Michigan in 1891, Louise Conklin received her degree from the University of Michigan. In 1918 she was hired as a professor of music at the Detroit Junior College and Central High School. She also served as chair of the Music Department. Louise Conklin was the driving force behind the annual performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at the university, and directed both the men’s and women’s glee clubs. The folder includes 4 class registers with students’ names and grades, dated 1917-1918, 1922-1923, and two undated.
