(9144) Allenby Bridge, West Bank, Isreal, Jordan, 1978

Two women and a child speak with soldiers on the Jordanian side of the Allenby Bridge (also known as the King Hussein Bridge) as they cross over from the West Bank, Israel. Part of a series.

Photographer's Note: “The Allenby Bridge, spanning the narrow Jordan River, connects Israel and Jordan, but passage back and forth is restricted. This was taken from the Jordanian side. The soldiers had misgivings about my cameras. The bridge was named for the field marshal who directed Britain’s Palestine campaign during World War I.”
