Detroit Tiger catcher Bill Freehan tags out St. Louis Cardinal Lou Brock at the plate during the 1968 World Series, Detroit, Michigan.

Photographer’s note: “He shoulda slid. The Tigers were behind the Cardinals three games to one. They won the fifth game after Lou Brock was called out at the plate by one inch. Tiger catcher Bill Freehan made the out after catching the perfect long throw from outfielder Willie Horton. This was the turning point of the series. The Tigers won the remaining two games in St. Louis, winning the 1968 world series.” (2883)
