The Walter P. Reuther Library is proud to announce the recipients of the 2022 Sam Fishman Award.

These annual grants provide up to $1,000 to support travel to the Reuther Library to access archival records related to the American labor movement.  read more »

The Reuther Library is sorry to report the passing of Adam Shakoor, a former Chief Judge to the 36th District Court who had also served Detroit’s Deputy Mayor under the Coleman Young. He was in private practice as a lawyer during other parts of his professional life. He was 74 when he passed on March 20.

For those interested in studying Shakoor’s life and work in public service, the Reuther Library maintains his papers, which cover the period 1981-1993.  read more »

A scholarship fund named for late colleague, Dr. María Gonzalez has been set up for students working with underrepresented collections at the Reuther Library. María inspired faculty, alumni and students alike, teaching in the classroom and working in the community, at organizations like Detroit’s co-working and business incubator, the Green Garage.  read more »
