This collection contains 39 grade books from Wayne University and Wayne State University English courses taught by Mildred Connely between the years 1934 and 1956.
Mildred Connely earned an A.B. from the University of Michigan in 1910. She became Assistant Professor in the English Department of the Detroit Teachers College in 1928, and continued to serve on the faculty of Wayne University and Wayne State University. She was a co-founder of Theta Phi Alpha, the first national Catholic women's fraternity. She retired as Professor Emeritus in 1970; she died in Detroit in 1979 at the age of 91.
