Tear gas besieges pickets and their supporters during the Stockton cannery strike.
Caption on the back of the photograph reads: “Upwards of 50 persons, including an undetermined number of women, were injured in violent outbreaks as strikebound canneries reopened. This picture shows a cloud of tear gas beating back some of the rioters.”
