Alfred L. Nelson began his career at Wayne State University when he was hired in 1925 as Chairman of the College of the City of Detroit Mathematics Department. Nelson held the position of Chair until his death in 1960. The records include correspondence, committee information, education groups, and documents from the graduate school. The collection contains correspondence and other documents relating to Harvey Cohn, who was a professor in the Mathematics Department for a brief period at Wayne State University.
