W.B. Jones, secretary of the Evarts Local of the United Mine Workers (UMW) and William Hightower, president of that same local, pose for a photograph. Both men were convicted of conspiracy to commit murder in relation to the deaths of three deputies during the “Battle of Evarts.” Both men were given life sentences.
