Mr. Marquart was interested in labor education. He worked as an education director for several Detroit UAW locals (1937-1958), served on the University of Michigan Workers' Education Service (1948), and was affiliated with Michigan university labor institutes and the UAW International Education Department (1958-1968). His papers consist largely of printed materials and clippings that he collected on subjects such as the Briggs Strike (1933), and UAW factionalism (1939) and the manuscript of his book, "An Auto Worker's Journal."
