(5158) IWW Members, Direct Action, Portrait, 1910s
Posted April 29th, 2015 by eclemens
A group portrait of three unidentified IWW members, one of whom holds onto a wooden shoe.
The wooden shoe (sabot), along with the black "Sabo-tabby" cat, was a symbol of "direct action" within the IWW--where workers act collectively to assert their power in the workplace instead of striking or acting with force.
