A group of children, evacuated from England under the threat of German invasion, arrive in Windsor, Ontario.

An estimated 30,000 British children, known as "war guests," were welcomed into Canada during the Second World War. The children in this image were likely part of the Children's Overseas Reception Board program. The program, created shortly after the surrender of France, assisted economically disadvantaged families in sending their children abroad, primarily between June and September 1940.
