The David Moberg papers primarily document research materials related to David Moberg's dissertation, Rattling the Golden Chains: Conflict and Consciousness of Auto Workers, which focused on the UAW strike at the GM Lordstown plant in 1971. This includes a comprehensive survey he conducted of Lordstown UAW Local 1112 members in 1973. David Moberg is a leading labor and economics reporter, well known as one of the original contributing writers for the publication, In These Times. He would eventually go on to become a senior editor for the magazine. He has also written for The Nation, The New Republic, New York Times, and much more.
