In 1985, Detroit Renaissance undertook a comprehensive strategic planning effort for the city of Detroit and two years later chartered the Detroit Strategic Plan Group for that purpose. The Detroit Strategic Plan then established five task forces which focused on crime, education, city image, jobs/economic development, and race relations. The Detroit Strategic Plan is made up of labor, religious, and government leaders, professionals, and members of civic and community organizations. The Detroit Strategic Plan Records contain reports, meeting minutes, and memorandums relating to the organization's planning activities from 1988 through 1989.
