Richard Leonard held various influential positions in the early labor movement, as president of United Auto Workers Local 227, the UAW-CIO International Welfare Director, National Director of the UAW Ford Department, assistant to CIO President Walter Reuther and Director of Collective Bargaining Services to the Industrial Union Department of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). Largely comprised of clippings, Mr. Leonard’s papers reflect his work in the labor movement, particularly during the 1940’s.
