Born in Perkins Oklahoma, Professor Skinner earned his B.S. degree at Oklahoma State University in 1919, and his Ph.D. in Speech at the University of Wisconsin in 1935. He began as professor of Speech at the College of the City of Detroit in September, 1928, and taught interpretive reading, voice and diction. He was instrumental in forming the men’s faculty club, the Wayne University Club, and in developing various extra curricular activities within the Speech Department. Materials include by-laws, articles of incorporation, minutes and correspondence of the Wayne Faculty Club and the Wayne University Club.
