Mr. McGraw was active in the unionization of the California aircraft industry from the early 1930s to the 1960s. Correspondence, press releases, handbills, notes, proceedings, and other materials document his career as an International Association of Machinists Local Lodge president, district secretary-treasurer, business representative, and Grand Lodge representative. He also served on advisory committees to the Institutes of Industrial Relations at the University of California and UCLA. Among the topics considered are UAW-IAM jurisdictional disputes, IAM elections, organizing and factionalism, and the Harvard Trade Union Program. Correspondents include Roy M. Brown, Eric Peterson, A. J. Hayes, and Wyndham MoGimer.
