(9155) Red Square, Moscow, U.S.S.R., 1982

A view of Red Square that shows a long line of people alongside the Kremlin wall, waiting to visit Lenin’s tomb, Moscow, U.S.S.R. (Russia).

Photographer’s Note:
"Red square was roped off and no tourists were permitted while Russian people visited Lenin’s Tomb. At this angle the towers, people, wall, and church stood out. If I had taken the picture head- on at a 90 degree angle, all the elements would have blended together. Composition helps to communicate the photographer’s vision to the viewer, and here it gives perspective and a feeling of the scene. A yellow filter on the 15mm lens brought out detail in the sky” as captioned by Spina. This photo was taken to run as background for a Hermitage exhibit at the Detroit Institute of Arts."
