(DN_8387) Ethnic Communities, Irish, Sports, Hurling, 1931

Members of the Detroit Hurling Club try for the sliotar (game ball) as a young boy watches, amused, during a demonstration game in the yard of an undisclosed factory.
The event was shot by Detroit News photographers, but never published. It was presumably taken in anticipation of the upcoming game on October 11, 1931 at the University of Detroit Stadium between the Tipperary Hurlers, Ireland's champions, and a Detroit squad hand selected by James J. Murphy, head of the Gaelic Athletic Association.
