Gen. Douglas MacArthur visits Detroit during his 1951 tour of Michigan.
Photographer’s note: “On his way to the City Hall, two Marines were in a foxhole on the City Hall lawn plugging on a bond drive. I stationed myself behind them, figuring the Marines would have to salute as the five-star general passed by. Neither the Marines nor the general stopped to salute."
