Portrait of Lech Walesa as he leaves the Gdańsk Shipyard.
Photographer's note: "I wanted to get a picture as the leader and founder of Solidarity, Poland's outlawed labor organization, left the shipyard at 2:00, the end of his shift. He had to come to his van, so I positioned myself there, where he would be in the foreground as he walked from the gates. I had to be unobtrusive, as the authorities did not want us there."
