A boycott of British Airlines is announced by members of Irish American Organizations outside of Detroit's Gaelic League. The boycott was called in response to the death of Bobby Sands, the leader of the 1981 Hunger Strikes by Irish Republican Army prisoners in Belfast.
In view are: Daniel O'Kennedy, vice-president of the Local Irish National Guard; Michael Kerwin, member of the Irish National Caucus; Michael Sullivan, president of the United Irish Society; Jim Phalen, president of Irish Northern Aid.
