(29590) Local 111-A Sanitation Workers, Strike

Caption: "Over 7,000 sanitation men picketed City Hall since October 1, in a demand for a 40hr - 5 day week. A previous "job action" in July 1951 resulted in the city giving the sanitation men a $250 bonus with retroactive pay. Six hundred police with special reserves were on hand to keep order of the militant 111-A organization. Local 111-As demand is being processed by the City officials."
